Man cheated of over `2 lakh online

Pune: A 24-year-old man from Hinjawadi was cheated of Rs 2.11 lakh by a fraudster, who took money from him for placing him in an Information Technology (IT) company.

A case under section of the Information Technology Act and cheating was lodged against an unidentified person in the case after the victim, Krantikumar Salikanti, lodged a complaint at Hinjawadi police station. 

As per information given by Police Sub Inspector Shivaji Gaware of Hinjewadi police station, Krantikumar received a phone call from an unidentified person, who said that he will help to get him a job in an IT company.

“Krantikumar got lured by the offer of the fraudster, who asked him to pay Rs 2.11 lakh for getting placed in the company. Krantikumar is an engineer by profession and he transferred the money through online mode to the bank accounts of the fraudster. The incident took place between March and May and he is yet to get a job. Following this, he came to Hinjewadi police station and lodged a complaint,” added Gaware, who is investigating the case.
