Pune: A 42-year-old man on a visit to Bhimashankar Jyotirlinga in Khed taluka drowned in a well in the early hours of Sunday. The deceased was identified as GH Agrahari and hailed from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Police Inspector Arvind Chaudhari of Khed police station said that at 5 am, Agrahari had gone to the temple and was planning to take a dip in the well. “As it is monsoon season and it was foggy near the well Agrahari could not judge the steps near the well and slipped on it. The autopsy report states that he died due to drowning. We are contacting Agrahari’s relatives in Kanpur and will hand over his body to them,” said Chaudhari.

Bhimashankar is an ancient shrine and is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
