Pune: The city unit of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) staged an agitation against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on its completion of six months in power in the PMC, but it was a flop show as hardly 20 NCP corporators out of 40 turned up for the protest.
NCP leader Ajit Pawar and State unit chief Sunil Tatkare are on a whirlwind tour of Maharashtra to generate public opinion against the BJP’s rule at the Centre and the State by raking up price rise issues, death of farmers and demonetisation.
When asked why many NCP leaders kept away from the protest, NCP city unit chief Vandana Chavan said the number does not matter and what matters is the issues raised by the party.
