Mercury dips as Pune witnesses its coldest November morning

Pune: Pune city witnessed a minimum temperature of 11.3 degree Celsius on Tuesday which was four degrees below normal. With this temperature, Punekars witnessed the coldest November morning in four years. The areas in the district such as Rajgurunagar, Baramati and Talegaon also reported minimum temperature between 10 to 13 degree.

The November winter has arrived early as expected, with parallel spells expected to continue through the season. The cold conditions will continue over the city and neighbouring areas till November 14 according to the officials at IMD Pune. After November 14, there will be a marginal rise in minimum temperature.

Many places in Maharashtra, including Pune along with some parts of Vidarbha on Tuesday with reported a sharp drop in minimum temperature. The minimum temperature in major cities in Vidarbha dropped by 3 to 5 degrees Celsius above average. Chandrapur was the coldest district in the state with temperature of 8.2 degrees was reported here on Tuesday.

Northern plains have been witnessing cold set-in during this week and cold winds have been reaching lower latitudes till Madhya Pradesh and northern Maharashtra. Apart from Maharashtra, Delhi, Ambala, Ludhiana and neighbouring areas in Punjab and Harayana also reported night temperatures close to 11 degrees Celsius.
