Pune, 8th July 2025: A heart-warming tale of resilience has emerged from Pune, where a stray cat that suffered a serious spinal injury in a road accident has made a full recovery after six months of intensive care and surgery. The cat, found unconscious by Radhika Dixit in January near a roadside, had lost the ability to walk due to a fractured vertebra.
Moved by the cat’s helpless condition, Dixit rushed her to the Small Animal Clinic on Baner Road. There, veterinary surgeon Dr. Narendra Pardeshi and his team took immediate charge. An X-ray confirmed a broken spine, and blood reports showed several deficiencies. Dr. Pardeshi began pain management and supportive treatment using injections and medication to stabilize her condition.
Following detailed observation, spinal surgery was performed on February 5 to realign her vertebra. Post-surgery care was crucial to her recovery. To prevent her from licking or biting the surgical site, an Elizabethan collar was fitted immediately. The medical team also ensured the wound was cared for over the following months with utmost attention.
Despite the trauma, the cat showed remarkable spirit. Her will to live never faded, and she responded well to treatment. By June, her spine had completely healed, and she began walking again, this time, without any pain. Dixit joyfully shared that the cat now jumps on sofas, plays with toys, and moves about confidently like never before.
To ensure continued wellness, the cat now undergoes alternative therapies like acupressure and acupuncture to stay pain-free. Dr. Pardeshi praised the cat’s endurance and timely intervention that made the recovery possible, calling it one of the most rewarding cases he has treated. The story stands as a testament to compassion, expert care, and the unbreakable spirit of animals.
