Pune, 5th July 2025: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) held a dramatic protest in the Khadakmal Aali area, highlighting the worsening condition of the road between the local church and Shitladevi Chowk. As potholes reappeared just months after repair work, party workers performed a symbolic 'puja' (Adoration), decorating potholes with flowers and rangoli to draw attention to civic apathy.
Earlier this year, MNS had staged a demonstration at the Bhawani Peth ward office, demanding complete resurfacing of roads in Ward No. 18. Following the protest, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) carried out partial road repairs. However, residents say the work was substandard, as potholes have returned within four to five months, making the road dangerous for daily commuters.
The stretch is now riddled with potholes, forcing motorists and pedestrians to navigate with extreme caution. The poor condition has also led to minor accidents. Locals have expressed frustration over the recurring issue and questioned the quality of PMC’s maintenance efforts.
MNS leaders Ravi Sahane and Sangram Talekar said the protest was a way to express public anger in a peaceful yet impactful manner. “This is not just a road issue; it’s about accountability. If PMC doesn’t act immediately, we’ll collect water from these potholes and take it to their office,” they warned.
The party has demanded that the PMC urgently repair all damaged roads in the ward and ensure long-lasting quality, especially with monsoon conditions worsening the damage.
