Monsoon enters Maharashtra, Pune arrival on June 11

Monsoon has arrived in Maharashtra and crossed Ratnagiri, Solapur, and Islampur. IMD has forecast heavy rains in Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Pune, Nagar, Solapur, Nashik, Kolhapur, Satara. Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Beed, Dharashiv, Hingoli, Latur, Nanded, Jalna, Parbhani and other parts of Marathwada will receive light showers of rain.

Pune: While pre-monsoon rains are lashing several parts of the city for last few days, Monsoon officially is expected to arrive in Pune on June 11.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that pre-monsoon rains accompanied with thunderstorms will continue to lash the city up to June 10.

The pre-monsoon rains accompanied with thunderstorms lashed Bibvewadi, Dhankawadi, Katraj, Ghorpadi, Marketyard, Shivajinagar, Erandwane, Swargate, Sahakarnagar, Parvati, Sinhagad Road, Karvenagar and other parts of the city since Monday. The peculiarity of these thunderstorms is that its formation is quick followed by sudden rains. IMD officials maintained that these are pre-monsoon rains.

Pune city areas like Sinhagad Road, Undri, NIBM Road, Camp, Swargate, Wadgaon Sheri, Chinchwad, Katraj Senapati Bapat road received heavy rains on Thursday (June 6) afternoon. Citizens are also advised to carry umbrellas and raincoats for the next few days as rains are expected in the city especially in the afternoon and evening hours.
