
Pune, 9 July 2025: Vidarbha continues to experience intense rainfall, with eastern parts of the region witnessing particularly heavy downpours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that this spell of rain will persist in both Vidarbha and the Konkan region over the next two days. Meanwhile, rainfall intensity is expected to be lower in other parts of Maharashtra.
The IMD has issued a red alert for heavy to extremely heavy rain in isolated areas of Nagpur, Bhandara, and Gondia. Additionally, an orange alert has been sounded in Amravati, Wardha, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli. Other districts in Vidarbha may also experience heavy showers in some areas.
In the Konkan region, a yellow alert has been declared across all districts, warning of heavy rain in isolated places. The Western Ghats in central Maharashtra are also likely to receive significant rainfall. In the Khandesh region and parts of Marathwada, including Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar and Jalna, heavy showers are expected, though other districts may only see light rainfall.
Rain activity is expected to persist in Vidarbha tomorrow, with an orange alert issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli. Districts such as Buldhana, Akola, Amravati, Yavatmal, Washim, and Wardha are under a yellow alert. The ghats of Ratnagiri, Raigad, and Kolhapur may also experience heavy rainfall, while the rest of central Maharashtra and Marathwada are likely to see only light showers.
Looking ahead, Friday may bring heavy rain to parts of Amravati, Wardha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli. Meanwhile, light rain is expected across sections of Marathwada, central Maharashtra, and the Konkan region. On Saturday, areas in Yavatmal, Chandrapur, and Gadchiroli could see heavy rain, while Marathwada and Khandesh may experience light to moderate showers.
