Pune, 8th October 2026: The agitation by MPSC aspirants continued for the seventh day on Wednesday, October 7, with protests being held at three locations, Tilak Chowk, Shastri Road and S. M. Joshi Bridge. The students are demanding a transparent examination process and action over alleged irregularities and paper leaks.
The protest at Tilak Chowk, which was mainly focused on the demand to retain the descriptive examination pattern for MPSC exams instead of the objective format, was suspended on Wednesday following a hearing in the Bombay High Court.
The protesting students said they were suspending the agitation in view of the court proceedings and out of respect for the judicial process. However, this suspension applies to the Tilak Chowk protest and does not mean that the overall student agitation in Pune has ended.
Students continued their protests at Shastri Road and S. M. Joshi Bridge. The demonstrations are focused on broader demands related to alleged paper leaks, examination irregularities, transparency and the recruitment process.
MLA Rohit Pawar said the government should come to Pune for discussions instead of asking students to travel to Mumbai.
“We will not go to Mumbai for talks. Two or three ministers should come to Pune and hold discussions at the protest site in front of the students. A decision should be taken after hearing their concerns,” Pawar said.
A hunger strike is also underway at S. M. Joshi Bridge, where several students have been refusing food for the past four days. The fasting students include Rishikesh Gangarde, Shivraj More, Omkar Patil, Priyanka Chaudhary, Somnath, Gajanan, Nitin Gite and Sheetal.
According to those at the protest site, Gangarde and Gajanan experienced a drop in blood sugar and their health deteriorated. Both were taken to a hospital by ambulance for medical attention.
While the Tilak Chowk agitation has been suspended following the High Court hearing, the MPSC students’ broader protest in Pune continues at the other two locations. Students have said they will continue raising their demands through the ongoing demonstrations.
