Pune: The Dehu Road Cantonment Board (DCB) has asked the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co Ltd (MSEDCL) to pay an outstanding amount of Rs 1.83 lakh on account of rent up to November 2017. The rent of two shops has been pending for the past four years. The board administrator has asked MSEDCL to pay the amount within the next fortnight, failing which action will be taken.
According to the official, the DCB had rented out the property to the then Maharashtra State Electricity Board, now Mahavitaran, from 1970 onwards. The two shops in the LIG Market, owned by the DCB, are adjacent to the Dehu Road police station. In 1970, the rent was Rs 411 per month. It went up to Rs 20,650 till March 2012. The same rent was charged from April to December 2012.
However, the DCB increased the rent by Rs 2,877 per month through a resolution. Meanwhile, MSEDCL paid Rs 10,275 on October 11, 2013. Since then, no rent was paid by MSEDCL. The board pointed out that the outstanding amount has crossed Rs 1.83 lakh till November.
The boards' revenue department stated that MSEDCL officials have been reminded that if the pending bills are not paid, it would recover the amount along with a fine.
