Minister Murlidhar Mohol, who visited the site on Friday, said the repeated accidents in the Navale Bridge area demand a permanent and long-term solution. He explained that after a major crash in 2022, authorities had introduced several measures, including speed guns and rumblers, in an effort to reduce speeding and improve road safety.

However, he said Thursday’s incident shows the need for stronger and lasting interventions.

Mohol added that a detailed investigation into the latest accident is underway. He inspected the spot personally and stated that urgent steps will be taken soon. An emergency meeting involving PMRDA, PMC, NHAI and police officials has been scheduled to review the situation and decide on immediate and future measures to prevent similar tragedies.

He also noted that Union Minister Nitin Gadkari had previously paid attention to the issue and that the proposed elevated corridor from Narhe to Ravet is seen as the only long-term solution. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the corridor is ready, and Mohol said he will meet Gadkari soon to push for faster implementation of the project.

Investigators are examining whether mechanical failure, driver negligence or violation of transport safety norms led to the deadly crash.
