Pune, 1st January 2025: City's central parts came to a standstill on the first day of the New Year as thousands of citizens stepped out to visit prominent temples and heritage sites. Traffic was heavily congested from Corporation Bridge to Mandai, causing long delays for commuters.
Crowds were especially high at Shaniwar Wada and Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple, as people queued up for darshan and sightseeing. Adding to the rush, Kasba Ganpati Temple reopened after nearly 15 days, drawing a steady flow of devotees throughout the day.
Major roads including Shivaji Road and Bajirao Road were filled with slow-moving vehicles, while several narrow lanes in the old city area also witnessed traffic jams. The heavy footfall and vehicle movement together led to prolonged congestion across Pune’s historic core, marking a busy and crowded start to the New Year for the city.
