New Year’s Eve: 5,000 cops to be deployed in Pune city; strict action against violators
Pune: With New Year’s eve just around the corner, Pune police has stated that force of 5,000 personnel will be deployed on December 31 in the city, said Pune Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta. The city police will keep a strict eye on those flouting social distancing or violating other protocols.
Pune city is under night curfew will also witness a low-key celebration of New Year as restaurants, cafes, pubs and other places will need to shut before 11 pm. The night curfew will remain in place till January 5.
The Commissioner of Pune city has appealed people to celebrate New year’s eve at home. “Punekars are requested to welcome the New Year at home by celebrating New Year’s eve with family members. Instead of gathering in big numbers at public places, celebrate it at home”, Gupta appealed.
Police personnel will be deployed at the major hotspots around the city. Along with police, Bomb Detection & Disposal Squad (BDDS), Damini squad, Rapid Action Force (RAF) will be deployed around the city.
Meanwhile, the traffic police unit of the city will also keep a strict vigil on those violating traffic rules, such as drink and drive, driving without seat belt motors, not wearing masks among others. Punitive action will be taken against the violators.
