Pune, 19 January 2026: A case has been registered against a newly elected corporator of the Nationalist Congress Party for taking out a victory procession without permission, even as a ban on such celebrations was in force following the Pune Municipal Corporation election results.

According to police, the civic poll results were declared on Friday, January 16. NCP candidate Suraj Lokhande won from the Janata Vasahat area. Later that evening, around 7.30 pm, a victory procession was taken out in the locality.

Police said the procession was organised without prior approval, in violation of official orders issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Branch), which prohibited victory rallies after the election results.

Based on a complaint filed by a police constable, a case has been registered at Parvati Police Station. Further investigation is underway.
