Pune: Even after 15 months following the merger of 11 villages in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits, very few applications are being submitted to civic body’s building permission department. Only 23 building construction proposals have been received from these 11 villages in the last four months.

In February 2017, the State government decided to merge Lohegaon, Shivne-Uttamnagar, Shivne Extension, Mundhwa Hadapsar-Sadesatara Nali, Ambegaon Khurd, Undri, Dhayari, Ambegaon Budruk, Uruli Devachi and Fursungi into PMC limits. Due to the lack of development control rules, these villages reported haphazard development. As the constructions took place without any formal permission, the State government announced it’s decision to apply Pune corporation Development Control Rule (DCR) in these villages in April 2018.

While speaking to Sakal Times, Yuvraj Deshmukh, Superintendent Engineer of Building permission department, said, “From April, we have received 23 proposals for approving constructions. The number is less as there is overall slowdown in the construction industry. Earlier, residents took permission from Pune Mahanagar Regional Development Authority (PMRDA).”

Another official said, “The State government decided to merge the villages in February 2017. Till April 2018, there was no designated authority to grant permission to building proposals. Due to the lack of DC rules, there was no administrative set up. During this period, residents carried out construction of small households without permission. Such constructions were substantial in numbers.”

The number of applications is as follows: Lohegaon (3),  Shivne-Uttamnagar (nil), Shivane Mundhwa (02)  Hadapsar-Sadesatara Nali (1), Ambegaon Khurd (2), Undri (4), Dhayari (2), Ambegaon Budruk (7), Uruli Devachi (nil) and Fursungi (2).  Meanwhile, PMC’s road department has undertaken road development work in 11 merged villages. They have decided to develop a major road in each village at a cost of Rs 73 lakh each.

These are: Dhanori Lohegaon- Wagholi road, Malwadi to Sadesatara nali, Z chowk to Sadesatara Nali, Keshav Nagar to Manjari, Saswad road, Fursungi road, Mantarwadi to Uruli Devachi road, Ambegaon Khurd  to Lake Vista City, Ambegaon Khurd to Pune-Satara road subway to Ambegaon crematorium, Dhayari- Pari company to DSK Vishwa road and NDA road.
