Only 150 PMPML buses for emergency
PUNE: Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has cancelled all operations until further notice across the state. The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) too will operate only 100 to 150 buses as per the requirement on Monday.
According to the district administration, “All pass centres will be closed from March 23 to 31. The operation of buses in both Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) limits will be cancelled. However, 100 to 150 buses will be available for emergency services including government staff, police, bank, fire brigade, Mahavitaran, sanitation workers, electricity department, water supply department and others.”
The passengers will be allowed in the buses after showing their identity cards. Initially on Sunday, PMPML administration operated 400 buses. Later, they allowed only 150 buses for emergency services. In the first hour on Sunday around 5,000 passengers travelled by PMPML and the transport body generated Rs 90,000 through it.
Similarly, MSRTC spokesperson Abhijit Bhosale from Mumbai said, “The MSRTC has cancelled all operations till March 31. The buses will be available for emergency services in Mumbai and no buses will ply from Pune and other divisional offices.”
