Pune, 18 March 2026: Domestic LPG cylinder distribution across Pune district will now follow a strict OTP-based verification system, ensuring doorstep delivery within 96 hours of booking.
The directive was issued by District Collector Jitendra Dudi to streamline supply and prevent irregularities.
The decision was taken during a meeting held at the district collectorate on Sunday, attended by officials from oil marketing companies and LPG distributors. The administration emphasized improving transparency and reducing crowding at distribution points.
Under the new rules, gas agencies have been instructed to immediately stop direct distribution of cylinders from their premises, go-downs, or any other locations. Customers will no longer be allowed to collect cylinders in person, and all deliveries must be completed through verified OTP-based transactions.
Additionally, agencies must display clear notices outside their offices and storage facilities informing customers about the updated delivery system. They are also required to send SMS alerts to registered consumers, explaining the OTP process and advising them not to gather outside agency locations.
The district administration has directed the police to closely monitor the situation and take strict action against any individual or group attempting to disrupt LPG distribution.
Officials believe the move will ensure a safer, more organized, and transparent delivery system for domestic LPG consumers across Pune.
