Over one lakh homes in Pune to become cylinder-free in next three years

Pune: With an aim to make Pune city ‘cylinder-free’, Maharashtra Natural Gas (MNGL) gas distribution network has decided to expanded across the city by providing piped-gas.

Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) is aiming to expand the network to provide complete customer delight by supplying natural gas at the doorsteps of the customers at an affordable price. MNGL plans to achieve a mark of 150 CNG stations covering all GAs by December 2021. In next 3 years, around 40 to 50 more CNG stations and around one lakh domestic households per year will be added.

As a sole distributor of Eco-friendly Fuel, it has stayed true to its objectives of providing clean, environment friendly green fuel - CNG, as an alternative to the conventional auto fuels like petrol and diesel and providing safe, convenient & reliable piped natural gas to its customers in the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors in Pune GA.

The first LNG/LCNG station of MNGL at Nashik on Golden Quadrilateral is likely to be commissioned in March 2021. MNGL is aiming to commission two new LNG, LCNG stations at Pune and Dhule by March 2022. MNGL is also supporting Government's initiative to set up & encourage production of CBG for use in vehicular sector to reduce polluting emissions and also to promote the vision of Clean & Green India.

MNGL has also taken pioneering initiative of award of CNG Mobile Refueling Unit (MRU) which is first of its kind in India.

On the occasion of 15th anniversary of MNGL, Girish Bapat, MP (Pune) stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a vision to move from Oil Based Economy to Gas Based Economy by 2030 and to enhance the share of natural gas from 6 per cent to 15 per cent in the total energy mix. The Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan has also been instrumental in taking the vision forward and enhanced usage of natural gas day by day through development of city gas distribution in 402 districts spread over 27 States/UTs which will cover 70 per cent of the population and 53 per cent of geographical area of the country.

He stated that MNGL has played a major role in improving the environment through supply of CNG and PNG to automobiles, domestic, commercial and industrial segments.
