Pune: The number of COVID-19 cases in Pimpri-Chinchwad city are rising every day, but the zone wise analysis of the spread of coronavirus in the city has revealed that two-zone offices – E and G – are amongst the worst-hit areas.
The maximum active cases (1723) are in Bhosari, Charholi, Dighi areas in Zone E followed by 1165 active cases in Pimpri Gaon, Thergaon, Ganeshnagar and Rahatani areas in Zone G. Meanwhile, the lowest number of active cases (481) is in areas like Sant Tukaram Nagar, Dapodi, Kasarwadi, Navi Sangvi etc.
Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) had recorded its first COVID-19 positive patient on March 10. Since then, the total number of Covid-19 cases reported in the city are 20591 of which 12902 patients have recovered from the disease. The active cases count in the city is 7341. A total of 348 deaths due to Covid-19 have been reported in the city. PCMC Commissioner Shravan Hardikar has recently anticipated that the total number of patients in the city will cross 50 thousand mark up to August 15. On Friday (July 31) new 149 Covid-19 cases were reported.
