Pimpri Chinchwad police arrest man demanding extortion from Chakan-based company

According to police, Ambole and his three accomplices had reached the gate of the company on February 19 night.

Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad police have arrested a 33-year-old man on charges of demanding extortion from officials of Ultra Tech Suspensions Private Limited, a Chakan-based company and threatening them of dire consequences if the demands are not met. The incident took place on February 19 night at around 10.30 pm at the gate of the company situated in Mahalunge Ingle.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Mangesh Ganpat Ambole (33), a resident of Sudumbre village in Maval tehsil of Pune district. His three accomplices have also been booked. A complaint has been filed against him by Lokesh Ravindra Patil (22), residing in Mahalunge and an employee of Ultra Tech Suspensions Private Limited.

Based on the complaint, Chakan police have booked the suspects under section 307 (attempt to murder), 384 (punishment for extortion), 387 (putting a person in fear of death or of grievous hurt, in order to commit extortion), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and section 4, 25 of the Arms Act and sections 37(1) and 135 Maharashtra Police Act.

According to police, Ambole and his three accomplices had reached the gate of the company on February 19 night. They were stopped at the security cabin of the company. The suspects were carrying swords with them and started shouting and demanding money from the company officials.

The suspects demanded that the company should either deploy their cabs for official tours or pay him Rs 25 thousand monthly hafta. He also vandalised the security cabin with the sword and abused and attacked the complainant.
