Pimpri Chinchwad: Schools reopen for classes 5 to 8; to function between three hours

Pimpri: With 14,062 consent forms from the parents, schools reopened recently in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation jurisdiction. However, these schools will now function for three hours daily.

The education department of the civic body is already beleaguered by issues of the incomplete COVID-19 tests of the teaching staff. As per the date received, out of 3,311 only 2,707 teachers had undergone the test on Wednesday.

The schools which remained shut amid the COVID-19 outbreak were reopened for classes 5 to 8. However, some schools haven’t received permission from the municipal corporation.

Parag Mundhe, Acting Education Officer in PCMC said, “Schools are reopened in Pimpri Chinchwad along with COVID-19 protocols. 90 per cent of Municipal Schools have received thermal guns and oxymeters while private schools have been asked to bear the cost of these precautionary tools on their own.”

“Students will be allowed to enter the classroom only after he gets his or her temperature checked. If any student is found with symptoms of COVID-19, their parents will be informed immediately,” he added.
