The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced the construction of a dedicated cancer hospital in Baner as part of its ₹15,669 crore budget for the financial year 2026–27. The facility is expected to significantly strengthen the city’s public healthcare infrastructure.
The hospital will provide treatment for all types of cancer and will be equipped with advanced technology, including a linear accelerator for radiotherapy, ensuring modern and effective care for patients.
In a move aimed at making treatment more accessible, PMC has stated that services at the hospital will be offered according to Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS) rates. This is expected to reduce the financial burden on patients seeking cancer treatment.
Alongside the healthcare push, PMC has approved a ₹15,669 crore budget focused on balanced urban development and improved civic services. The administration has projected higher revenue through property tax, GST, and government grants while ensuring that expenditure remains aligned with income.
With this initiative, PMC aims to strengthen Pune’s public healthcare system while ensuring inclusive and sustainable urban development.
