Pune, 7th August 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has invited citizens to submit suggestions for development works to be included in its 2027–28 municipal budget, with the deadline set for August 31.
The initiative aims to strengthen public participation in the budget-making process by incorporating projects based on the city's local needs and residents' expectations.
The civic administration has begun preparations for the upcoming budget under the provisions of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act. Citizens, resident associations, NGOs, experts, and other organisations have been asked to propose projects related to essential civic services such as water supply, roads, transport, drainage, healthcare, education, environmental conservation, parks, sports facilities, and sanitation.
Residents can submit their suggestions online through the PMC Participatory Budget portal (https://pbpune.pmc.gov.in). Printed application forms are also available free of cost at all PMC ward offices.
All proposals received will be examined by the respective ward committees. Projects found to be practical and beneficial will be prioritised for inclusion in the 2027–28 budget. Assistant Commissioners of the regional offices have been directed to submit the consolidated proposals to the Municipal Commissioner by October 9, 2026.
PMC has been implementing participatory budgeting since the 2006–07 financial year, allowing citizens to directly recommend local development works.
Under the current guidelines, an individual citizen can propose projects worth up to ₹5 lakh. The total value of proposals can go up to ₹75 lakh for a single-member ward, ₹1 crore for a four-member ward, and ₹1.25 crore for a five-member ward.
The civic administration has appealed to citizens to actively participate in the process so that the municipal budget reflects local priorities and community needs.
