Pune, 23 December 2025: The election process for the Pune Municipal Corporation has officially moved into an active phase, with nomination filing beginning from today (December 23). The process will continue till December 30, marking a crucial step in the long-awaited civic polls being held after nearly four years.
Even as nomination filing begins, political negotiations remain underway. Major alliances, including the BJP–Shiv Sena bloc as well as discussions within the NCP factions and the Maha Vikas Aghadi, are yet to finalise seat-sharing arrangements.
Clear decisions are expected within the next few days. Smaller parties such as the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and the Aam Aadmi Party have also intensified their preparations.
Meanwhile, aspirants across the city have already been campaigning for months through local programmes and public outreach, aiming to strengthen their presence among voters ahead of the polls.
To facilitate the nomination process, the civic administration has arranged filing facilities across 15 regional ward offices, covering all 41 wards of the city. Depending on the region, each office will accept nomination forms for two or three wards.
The nomination filing and scrutiny will take place between December 23 and December 30 during designated hours, with no filings accepted on December 25 and December 28.
Ahead of the elections, candidates are required to obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) confirming there are no pending civic dues. So far, over 2,100 applications have been received for NOCs. Although a single-window system has been introduced, several applicants have reported delays and administrative confusion due to staff shortages and coordination issues.
To manage election-related permissions and logistics, the administration has set up 22 election cells and appointed 15 nodal officers. Single-window counters have also been established at election offices to issue permissions for campaign vehicles, temporary offices, corner meetings, and public rallies.
