PMC forms Rapid Response Team

PUNE: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) General Body (GB) on Tuesday approved funds of around Rs 1 crore to purchase medicines and medical equipment to combat Coronavirus. The civic administration has formed a Rapid Response Team to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak.

PMC’s health department demanded funds from the Standing Committee to purchase medical equipment, which was sanctioned on Tuesday under the special provision of the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act.

Standing Committee Chairman Hemant Rasane said, “The PMC will purchase Sodium Hypochlorite solution and disposable three-layer masks by spending Rs 20 lakh. Sodium Hypochlorite solution is used for spraying at infected areas or public places such as hospitals, government offices and areas surrounding coronavirus positive patients.”

Besides, the GB meeting approved Rs 55 lakh to purchase Intensive Care Unit (ICU) equipment for Naidu Hospital. It includes a portable ventilator, a defibrillator, an emergency kit, a monitor, a jumbo cylinder, a patient monitor, a syringe pump, a manual ICU bed excell, an instruments trolly, a suction machine, a saline stand and an LED examination light with magnifying glass intensity.

RAPID RESPONSE TEAM
Meanwhile, the PMC, under its contentment plan, has started home-to-home visits and spraying sodium hypochlorite solution to sterilise various areas.

Additional Municipal Commissioner Rubal Agrawal said, “The civic administration formed a Rapid Response Team to take prohibitive action against citizens who had travel history to affected countries. The team will help these citizens to provide medical help quickly. It includes health officers, fire department officials and solid waste management officials. The PMC has also assigned duties to different departments to help citizens and tackle the Coronavirus situation.”

Besides, the General Body meeting approved Rs 55 lakh to purchase Intensive Care Unit (ICU) equipment for Naidu Hospital.
