

Pune, 29 October 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation’s Building Development Department, Zone 1, on Wednesday carried out a major crackdown on illegal constructions and encroachments in the Khau Galli area of Govindsagar Society, stretching from Old Mundhwa Road to Sangharsh Chowk in Chandan Nagar. The operation targeted unauthorized structures that had sprung up over a large area, disrupting public space and traffic flow.
Illegal constructions and sheds built for commercial use, such as hotels, grocery shops, and snack centers, were demolished, clearing a total area of 17,500 square feet.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Executive Engineer Suresh Sakhale, with the supervision of Deputy Engineer Vivek Dubbewar, Junior Engineer Umesh Godge, and Draftsman Yogesh Gurav. During the action, the Zone 1 team removed tin sheds, partially built structures, and encroachments used for commercial purposes at various locations.
PMC has urged residents to refrain from engaging in any construction activities, setting up tin sheds, or utilizing shared and front areas for business purposes following this directive. Officials stated that the rise in illegal constructions on public and common spaces in the city is causing traffic obstructions, sanitation issues, and safety concerns for residents. Therefore, regular action is being taken against such unauthorized structures.
