Pune, 6th March 2026: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) is in the final stages of building two football and multi-utility sports arenas in Pimpri-Chinchwad to strengthen sports infrastructure and support local athletes.
The projects are being developed on PMRDA-reserved plots in Sectors 3 and 12. Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla recently reviewed the progress of both sites and expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of the work.
He also instructed officials to ensure that the remaining construction is completed within the scheduled timeframe.
The sports facility in Sector 3 is being developed on a plot of about 3,500 square metres and is nearly 80% complete. It will feature a football turf measuring 44 metres in length and 30 metres in width, along with a squash court.
A small spectator gallery with seating for more than 40 people, a utility building, compound wall and underground water storage tank have already been completed, while work on laying the turf and paving blocks is currently underway.
The second project in Sector 12 is much larger and is spread across approximately 130,600 square metres. Around 65% of the construction work has been completed so far.
The facility will include a FIFA-standard football ground measuring 105 metres in length and 68 metres in width and a stadium with seating capacity for more than 400 spectators.
Officials said the base preparation for the football pitch, including the installation of perforated drainage pipes and the granular sub-base layer, has been completed. Construction of spectator seating and utility structures is currently in progress.
Deepak Singla said these sports facilities will help young players in the rapidly growing urban region get better opportunities to train and develop their skills.
Officials added that both grounds are being equipped with advanced drainage systems and high-quality turf, allowing the fields to remain usable even during the monsoon season.
