
Pune: Sleuths from Pune police Crime Branch have nabbed a notorious robber and recovered five pistols and 11 live cartridges from his possession.
The accused has been identified as Arjun Shivaji Sable (35) of Sablevasti in Khed taluka of Pune district. Based on information received by policemen Tanaji Gade and Atul Menge of the anti-organised crime cell (north region) of the crime branch, Sable was caught near State Transport Workshop in Dapodi. Sable’s accomplice Nikhil Devanand Patil (21) of Lonikand, is involved in an attempt to murder case, the police said.
DCP (Crime) Pankaj Dahane said, “There are eight cases of robbery, dacoity, thefts registered against Sable with different police stations here. He had come to sell the weapons when our team arrested him and found two pistols and six live cartridges with him. Later, we seized other firearms from his friend. The recovered pistols and cartridges are valued at Rs 1.56 lakh.”
Inspector Brahmanand Naikwadi, in-charge of AOCC (north region), said, “The accused got the firearms from Devisingh Sardarsingh of Signur in Khargone district of Madhya Pradesh. He is a ‘wanted’ in the case.”
The investigation team included API Ganesh Pawar, PSI PD Gaikwad, and policemen Raj Deshmukh, Hazrat Pathan, Bhalchandra Borkar, Deepak Bhujbal, Datta Fulsundar, Kantilal Bansude, Raju More, Ramesh Bhise, Vithal Bandgar, Navnath Chandne, Dinesh Sable, Sonawane, Pandule and Police Naik Sheetal Shinde.
