Prostitution racket busted in Pune’s posh area; 12 women rescued

A police team acting on the tip-off in raid busted a sex racket allegedly run by four Nigerian women from Pimple Gurav area in Pimpri Chinchwad.

Pune: In a shocking incident, Pimpri Chinchwad Police’s Social Security Cell on Wednesday busted a prostitution racket in the posh area while rescued 12 women based from Nigeria.

A police team acting on the tip-off in raid busted a sex racket allegedly run by four Nigerian women from Pimple Gurav area in Pimpri Chinchwad. The police during the raid also rescued 12 women from Nigeria who were allegedly pushed into the trade.

Acting on a tip-off, four people stand-in as bait customers visited the residence in Pimple Gurav and found that flesh trade racket was being run from here by Nigerian women. Consequently, a team of Social Security Cell from Pimpri Chinchwad Police raided the residence. During the raid, police nabbed four women hailing from Nigeria for allegedly being involved in the prostitution racket. During the raid, over seven mobile phones and Rs 46,000 in cash was recovered. The police have also arrested one man in this connection.

The rescued women are sent to a shelter home. Meanwhile, in a further investigation, the police are checking the passports, visas of all women. The action was taken by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sudhir Hiremath, Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Ramnath Pokale, under the guidance of Police Commissioner Krishna Prakash.

Recently, the police conducted a raid in Hinjawadi area and busted online prostitution racket.
