Pune: The Pune Smart city Development Corporation Limited (PSDCL), the special purpose vehicle company working for the implementation of smart city project in the city, has initiated a procedure for incorporating 11 newly merged villages in the jurisdiction of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC). The decision on this issue is expected at the meeting of the board of directors of Smart city, which will be held on December 4.
Several projects are being undertaken under smart city project in the city. Under area-based development initiative, Aundh- Baner- Balewadi area has been selected for various development works. Considering complex problems of old city areas, PSDCL is now planning to expand their project throughout the city. Similarly, the PSDCL is also considering various development projects as green-field developments in these newly merged areas.
According to sources, PSDCL is now preparing a proposal for the merged villages in the smart city project. If it is implemented in these areas, it will pave the way for planned development in the next five years.
Sources said, "Since these areas are mostly deprived of basic civic amenities, it has been taken up immediately after the merger of these villages. The residents of these areas will be benefited a lot from the development. Also, the standard of living for the residents staying in these areas is going to improve if smart city project is implemented immediately after the merger of these villages."
