PUNE: The sleuths from the anti-corruption bureau (ACB), Pune unit, caught a Police Sub Inspector (PSI) and constable of the Highway Police for allegedly accepting bribe of Rs 32,000 from a transporter in the wee hours of Saturday in Khandala.
The complainant is from Thane and has a transport business. After being harassed by the police officer, who threatened to take action against his trucks, he lodged a complaint with the ACB, Pune unit.
The accused, PSI Bharat Tanu Tambitkar (57) and constable driver Tanaji Yetal Gore, had asked the complainant for a bribe to allow his container trucks to pass the ghat section of the Pune-Mumbai highway without any action for over loading, not maintaining lane discipline, proper documents, and other issues.
Accordingly, a team led by Dy SP Suhas Nadgouda from Pune reached Khandala at around 3 am.
The accused reached at 52 km (milestone) on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway around 3.30 am and accepted Rs 32,000 bribe. The anti-corruption bureau sleuths caught them red-handed while accepting the bribe.
