Pune, 10th September 2026: A 28-year-old student preparing for competitive examinations was allegedly abducted late at night following a dispute over his communication with a woman. The incident took place within the jurisdiction of the Perugate Police Station.
The police control room received information through the Dial 112 emergency number at around 12:30 am that a young man had been forcibly taken away in a black Scorpio. Following the alert, police teams increased patrolling and began checking vehicles in the area.
Police tracked the suspected vehicle and intercepted it on Sinhagad Road at around 1:23 am, just 53 minutes after receiving the alert. The victim, identified as Prasad Suryawanshi, was safely rescued.
Police detained Sagar Ramesh Borade, 32, a hotelier from Walchandnagar, and Kishor Balasaheb Sawant, 32, from Dasar in Malshiras, Solapur, from the spot.
According to the preliminary investigation, Suryawanshi and a woman known to Borade were both preparing for competitive examinations in Pune. Borade was allegedly upset because Suryawanshi remained in regular contact with the woman.
Police suspect that the dispute led Borade and his associates to assault Suryawanshi and forcibly take him away in his own vehicle.
After the rescue, Suryawanshi was sent for a medical examination. Police said four people were allegedly involved in the crime. Two suspects have been arrested, while efforts are underway to trace the remaining two accused.
