Pune, 25 December 2025: Pune Airport has emerged as one of India’s busiest airports, securing the eighth position nationwide in passenger traffic. According to official data, the airport recorded a steady rise in passenger movement during November, driven mainly by domestic travel.
In November alone, 9,58,602 domestic passengers travelled through Pune Airport. When international travellers are included, the total passenger count rose to 9,89,235, taking the figure close to the one-million mark in a single month. This growth reflects Pune’s increasing importance as a major travel and business hub.
Among India’s top airports, Indira Gandhi International Airport ranked first, handling around 54 lakh domestic passengers, followed by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport with nearly 35 lakh domestic travellers. At the other end of the list, Dabolim Airport recorded the lowest passenger traffic during the month.
Although Pune Airport has limited international operations, it still handled 30,663 international passengers in November. Currently, international flights from Pune operate only to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Bangkok. Experts believe that once infrastructure and operational issues at Pune Airport are resolved, international passenger numbers could rise significantly.
Overall, the consistent growth in passenger traffic highlights Pune Airport’s expanding role in India’s aviation network, with strong demand indicating even greater potential in the coming months.
