Pune: Army Institute of Technology's team 'The Pack' has bagged the first prize of Rs 1 lakh in the 4th edition of Smart India Hackathon 2020 (Software), which was organized by Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on August 1 to 3 August.
The winning team 'The PACK' was led by Rishav Sharma. The other team members were Akshay Sharma, Satya Prakash, Harsh Chauhan, Deepshikha Tripathi, and Shuvam Kumar. This team won the first prize for their solution for the problem statement 'IC-474' from AICTE MHRD's Innovation Cell (Student Innovation) ministry.
The AIT team was awarded the prize in the category of "Education for rural and underprivileged people". Considering the problem in the education sector of India, low internet connectivity in rural India, and high prices of video lectures on various platforms, their proposed solution 'Eureka' is built to overcome these challenges by providing a full-featured application at low internet bandwidth. Three more AIT teams - Hexada, Madhava, and LoRa SYNC - too reached their respective final rounds.
Brigadier Abhay Bhat, Director of AIT said, "It is a great achievement that the AIT team has won the Smart India Hackathon (SIH). SIH is one of the biggest hackathons, not only in the country but the entire world. Over the last two years, AIT has been trailblazing in various technical competitions. Winning KPIT sparkle two consecutive years (2019 and 2020), winning all first three prizes in NEC hackathon at IIT Delhi and winning over 20 national level hackathons in 2019; it has been a great run."
"These achievements are not only a testimony to the hard work and immense talent amongst our students, but to the grooming by their teachers, mentors, and senior students. The vibrant co-curricular club system, which is an informal learning environment created and run by the students themselves, is also an important contributory factor. While we are proud that our students have been winning such competitions, what is more satisfying is that the students are providing solutions to some very important social issues.," he added.
