Pune, 7th November 2025: In another major land scam in the city after government agricultural land in Bopodi was allegedly shown as privately owned through forged documents. Police have registered a case against nine individuals, including Tehsildar Suryakant Yevale, for misuse of power and illegal transfer of the land.
The complaint was filed by Deputy Tehsildar Praveena Borde on behalf of the government at Khadak Police Station. Based on her report, nine suspects have been booked.
The accused include Tehsildar Suryakant Yevale, Hemant Gavande, Rajendra Ramchandra Vidhwans, Hrishikesh Madhav Vidhwans, Mangal Madhav Vidhwans, Vidyanand Avinash Puranik (Indore), Jayashree Sanjay Ekbote (Mumbai), Sheetal Kishanchand Tejwani, and Digvijay Amarsingh Patil (Director, Amedia Enterprises LLP).
According to the complaint, Yevale allegedly misused his position between February 12, 2024, and July 1, 2025. He is accused of illegally classifying over 5.35 hectares of government land in Pune’s Bopodi area as private property.
The land has belonged to the Agriculture Department since 1883. Despite this, Yevale allegedly facilitated the creation of forged documents for ownership transfer. He reportedly invoked provisions of the 1948 Mumbai Tenancy & Agricultural Lands Act, even though the Act is not applicable within municipal corporation limits.
Police say Yevale, in coordination with Gavande, representing Vision Property, and other accused, prepared fake letters and orders to show private ownership of the land.
The complaint states that the group conspired to cheat the government and attempt to transfer state property into private hands.
Following the report, Khadak Police registered an FIR and launched an investigation. The involvement of a senior revenue official has placed the incident under public and administrative scrutiny.
