According to police, the action was carried out on Thursday night following instructions from Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone I) Rishikesh Rawale. Acting on the directive, a team led by Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme raided a room on the first floor of the building where the illegal activity was being carried out.

During the raid, police found four Bangladeshi women inside the premises. They were rescued and taken into protection as the investigation continued late into the night.

A complaint in the case was filed by Police Sub-Inspector Chandrakant Javalge (37). Based on the complaint, a case has been registered under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act against four accused, a Bangladeshi agent identified as Mulla, Babu Bhaiya alias Papa Sheikh of Budhwar Peth, Bhop Singh Rajput of Janata Building, and building owner Meenakshi Ramesh Metri.

Police have arrested Bhop Singh Rajput, while a search is underway for the remaining accused.

“During the investigation, it was found that the women were brought to India after being promised jobs in beauty parlours and tailoring. They were later threatened and forced into prostitution. The accused were keeping the women confined in a room and earning money through them,” said DCP Rishikesh Rawale.

Police said further investigation into the trafficking network and involvement of other suspects is ongoing.
