Pune, 20 October 2025: Pune witnessed a major fire incident on Sunday night (October 19) at the historic Chavan Wada located in Chimanya Ganpati Chowk, Sadashiv Peth. The blaze gutted four houses and caused heavy damage to household items, though fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to officials, the fire started around 8 p.m. on the roof of the wada, where four families reside. As soon as smoke and flames were noticed, the residents quickly alerted the Fire Brigade and rushed outside for safety. Firefighters and Vishrambaug police reached the spot promptly and began firefighting operations.
Dense smoke spread through the area, but the teams ensured no one was trapped inside. Firefighters also managed to remove three LPG cylinders in time, preventing a potential explosion. With the help of five fire tenders, the blaze was brought under control after intense efforts.
The fire, which broke out during the festive Diwali season, destroyed household belongings in four homes, leading to significant loss. Some shopkeepers on the ground floor managed to save their goods by moving them out quickly. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to Vishrambaug Police.
