Pune, 20th June 2026: Marking International Yoga Day, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will organise a large-scale yoga camp at S.P. College Ground on Sunday, June 21, at 6:30 am. The event is expected to witness participation from nearly 3,000 to 5,000 citizens, including school students.
Mayor Manjusha Nagpure appealed to residents to view yoga not merely as a one-day celebration but as the beginning of a healthier lifestyle. She urged Punekars to participate in large numbers and embrace yoga as a part of their daily routine.
Several dignitaries, including District Collector Jitendra Dudi, PMC Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, and actress Urmila Kothare, are expected to attend the programme. Various yoga organisations, institutions, students, and parents will also take part in the event.
Yoga demonstrations will be conducted in accordance with the protocol prescribed by the Union Ministry of AYUSH. To help participants prepare, instructional video clips have been made available in advance. Qualified yoga trainers from different organisations will guide attendees through the exercises using proper techniques.
Nagpure said that every participant will be awarded a certificate, adding that the initiative aims to encourage more people to adopt yoga and lead healthier lives.
