
Pune: More than 10 educational institutions from Pune have been recognised by the central government in its ‘Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievement (ARIIA) which has acknowledged these colleges for encouragement given to students for innovative ideas, help for startups and the presentation made by the students at the national level. In this list, the renowned Government College of Engineering Pune (COEP) has been ranked number one among the top five government institutions for higher education in the country.
Institutions were evaluated by the Ministry of Education and ARIIA. Vice President Venkaiah Naidu unveiled the list of ‘Atal Ranking’. The Vidya Pratishthan College of Arts, Commerce and Science at Baramati has been ranked among the top 6 to 25 institutions in the country in the category of Government and Granted Colleges. Only Symbiosis International University is included in the Band A group from the private university group. Band B includes Bharti Vidyapeeth College of Engineering, MIT Art Design and Technology University, Symbiosis Skill Development and Open University.
JSPM Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering, Vishwakarma Institute of Technology has been ranked among the top 6 to 25 institutions in band A in the group of private institutions. Among the 26 to 50 ranked institutes in band B are MIT Academy of Engineering, Pimpri-Chinchwad College of Engineering, Modern College of Engineering, Sinhgad Technical Education Society’s College of Pharmacy.
Expressing happiness over the success of Rajarshi Shahu Engineering College, JSPM Founder Dr Tanaji Sawant congratulated Director Dr Ravi Joshi, Anil Bhosale, Principal Dr Rakesh Kumar, Dr Shailaja Patil and students.
Bharatkumar Ahuja, Director of COEP said, “Students and teachers deserve full credit for COEP being ranked number one in the country in the group of top government institutions. Over the past year, students have done well in innovation and startups. Taking note of the new ideas presented by three students, the government had awarded them projects along with a Rs 1.5 crore grant. Also, over the last year, COEP has conducted 56 different programs for startups and innovations.”
Dr Anand Bhalerao, Principal of Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University College of Engineering said, “Our college promotes innovative ideas and startups from available funds and tools. We have organized 55 national level initiatives promoting entrepreneurship and innovative concepts and have also received and published patents.”
