Pune, 15 November 2025: The Pune Civil Court has officially cancelled the disputed sale of a three-acre plot belonging to the Seth Hirachand Nemchand Digambar Jain Boarding in Model Colony. The order, issued on Friday, nullifies the land purchase agreement between the trust and developer Gokhale Landmarks LLP.
Earlier in April, the Charity Commissioner had approved the sale, but the decision triggered intense opposition from the Jain community. Under the leadership of Acharya Guptinand Maharaj, members of the Jain Boarding Bachav Kruti Samiti carried out major protests, demanding that the transaction be scrapped.
Amid mounting pressure, Gokhale Landmarks LLP voluntarily withdrew from the project. The trust and the developer then submitted a joint affidavit to the Charity Commissioner stating that they had no objection to cancelling the agreement. Following this, the Charity Commissioner revoked the previous approval and instructed the parties to complete the legal process for cancelling the registered deed.
Acting on a joint petition filed by the trust and the developer, Civil Judge N. R. Gajbhiye directed that the sale deed be formally annulled. Advocates Ishaan Kolhatkar represented the trust, Nischal Anand appeared for the developer, while advocates Anil Patni, Sukaushal Jinturkar, Yogesh Pande, and Ashish Patni represented the Jain Boarding Bachav Kruti Samiti.
