Pune, 7th May 2026: A shocking incident of attempted murder linked to a love affair has surfaced from the Patharevasti area of Chandan Nagar in Pune, where a young woman was allegedly attacked with a blade by her boyfriend.
The victim has been identified as Ujaladevi Jaswantsingh Dohare (22), a resident of Chandan Nagar originally from Uttar Pradesh. Police said she suffered serious injuries after her throat was slit during the attack and is currently undergoing treatment in the intensive care unit of a private hospital. Her condition remains critical.
According to police, the accused, Dilip Rathod (22), and the victim worked together at a shopping mall, where they developed a relationship. However, the two had reportedly been having disputes over the past few days.
On the day of the incident, Rathod allegedly went to the woman’s residence in Patharevasti, Chandan Nagar, and attacked her while she was alone at home. Her brother and sister-in-law had gone out for work at the time. Police said the accused entered the house and attacked her with a blade before fleeing the spot.
Despite being seriously injured, the woman managed to call her brother, Bhagatsingh Jaswantsingh Dohare (25), and informed him that she had been attacked.
She later made a video call to him, during which he saw her lying in a blood-soaked condition. Family members and local residents rushed to the house and immediately shifted her to a hospital for treatment.
When police reached the hospital and questioned the victim, she was unable to speak because of the injury to her throat. Officers said she asked for a pen and paper and wrote the name 'Dilip Rathod', identifying the accused.
Based on the complaint filed by the victim’s brother, Chandan Nagar Police registered a case against Rathod and later arrested him. Further investigation is underway.
