

Pune, 25 February 2026: In a shocking incident, a Class 12 student was attacked with a sickle in Kothrud on Tuesday afternoon shortly after stepping out of his Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination centre. The assault reportedly stemmed from a dispute between students.
The victim and the accused are both Class 12 students who had appeared for their board examination at a college in Erandwane. Around 2:30 pm, as students exited the examination centre after completing their paper, one of the juveniles, along with his associates, allegedly attacked the victim with a sickle.
The injured student, a resident of Karvenagar, sustained a serious head injury and was rushed for medical treatment. His condition is reported to be critical.
Senior Police Inspector Sandeep Deshmane said that two juveniles from the Ramnagar-Warje area have been taken into custody in connection with the case. Police are investigating the motive behind the attack and how the accused managed to bring a weapon near the examination centre.
The incident triggered panic among students outside the exam centre. Police reached the spot immediately after receiving information and detained the suspects.
Local residents have raised concerns about how such weapons were accessed and demanded a thorough search of the surrounding area to prevent similar incidents in the future.
