
Pune, 17 July 2025: A man was blackmailed and forced to transfer Rs 8,000 after meeting someone through a dating app in Pune. The incident occurred near the Nanded City entrance and resulted in the arrest of one accused, while another is still at large.
According to police, the complainant connected with the accused on a dating app. The accused, identified as Robin alias Shubham Upendra Kamble (27), a resident of Nanded Phata on Sinhagad Road, invited the victim to a hotel near Nanded City’s entrance. There, Kamble and his accomplice, Omkar Mandalik from Vadgaon Khurd, allegedly took the victim to a deserted spot in a car.
Kamble then tried to get physically intimate with the complainant. When the victim resisted, the accused threatened to make and send a video to his family. They then snatched his mobile phone and used it to transfer Rs 8,000 via an app to Mandalik’s account. The accused also issued threats, warning the victim not to inform anyone or risk harm.
Acting on information received during the investigation, police constables Pratik More and Swapnil Magar arrested Kamble. Mandalik is still absconding. Senior Police Inspector Atul Bhosale confirmed the arrest, adding that the court has remanded Kamble to police custody until July 17.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam and Assistant Commissioner Ajay Parmar. The investigation team included Senior Inspector Atul Bhosale, Inspector (Crime) Gurudatta More, Assistant Inspector Rahul Yadav, and several other officers from the Nanded City Police Station.
