Pune, 25th July 2026: Two separate firing incidents triggered by old rivalries were reported within the jurisdiction of Khadak Police Station on Friday, leaving one youth seriously injured and raising concerns over violent gang feuds in the area. Police have arrested four accused in the first incident, while a search is underway for the suspects involved in the second attack.
The first incident took place around 12.30 pm near the Ghorpade Peth police chowky. According to police, Khwajauddin Nazir Shaikh alias Nooru Shaikh (25), a resident of Ghorpade Peth, was targeted due to a long-standing dispute between the two groups.
Police said the enmity dates back several years when a relative of the victim had allegedly assaulted the uncle of one of the accused. Acting on that grudge, Sujal Sunil Pardeshi (21) and his associates allegedly arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire at Nooru Shaikh. One of the bullets struck him in the back, leaving him seriously injured.
Hearing the gunshots, police personnel from the nearby chowky rushed to the spot and chased down the accused. Sujal Pardeshi was caught immediately, while his associates, Piyush Pardeshi, Sonu Pardeshi and Vicky Pardeshi, were also arrested later. The injured victim was admitted to a hospital, where his condition is reported to be stable.
In another incident later the same day, unidentified assailants allegedly opened fire at Omya Gaikwad in Lohiyanagar over an old dispute. The attack occurred around 6.30 pm, but the bullet missed the target, allowing Gaikwad to escape unhurt.
Senior police officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Hrishikesh Rawale and Senior Police Inspector Shashikant Chavan, visited the spot soon after the incident.
Separate cases have been registered at Khadak Police Station in connection with both firing incidents. While four accused have been arrested in the Ghorpade Peth case, police teams are continuing efforts to trace and arrest the absconding suspects involved in the Lohiyanagar firing.
