Pune, 24th August 2026: A 25-year-old man was allegedly killed in Market Yard area after the accused decided to take revenge for an earlier assault on his father. The incident took place at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Vasahat in Market Yard on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Satish Gulab Shirsat, a resident of the same area. Police have arrested Sonu Ankush Sathe, 30, in connection with the case.
According to police, Shirsat had allegedly assaulted Sathe’s father a few days ago following a minor dispute. Angered by the incident, Sathe allegedly decided to retaliate.
At around 11.30 pm on August 21, Sathe allegedly attacked Shirsat with a sharp weapon in Lane No. 3 of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Vasahat. Shirsat suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital, but doctors declared him dead before treatment could begin.
Sathe allegedly fled after the attack but was later arrested by Market Yard police. A complaint was filed by police employee Gaurav Badak, while Assistant Police Inspector Sudhir Katare is investigating the case.
