Pune Customs clear Rs 170 cr IGST refunds in fortnight

PUNE: The Pune zone of GST, Central Excise and Customs, settled Integrated Goods and Service Tax (IGST) refund claims of Rs 170 crore in a fortnight.

MVS Choudhary, Commissioner of Customs, Pune said, “The refund is more than 90 per cent of the total claimed IGST refunds.” Exporters should correct their GST returns as advised on their individual emails to enable procession of their claims. All IGST refund claimants may register on the ICEGATE website. The period of refund has been extended till June 16. The IGST refund cell is headed by Shubendra Katta, Deputy Commissioner of Customs.

“Pune Customs has also taken many trade-friendly measures since the beginning of the financial year like promoting importers/exporters to opt for Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) programme and creating awareness on the Trade Facilitation Agreement,” MVS Choudhary further said.

He said that the timing of Inland Container Depot (ICD) at Talegaon has been extended till 10 pm to facilitate exports. This has reduced the time for movement of goods from ICD to gateway port by 24 hours. All exporters/importers based in Pune and adjoining districts may utilise the facility.

BOOST FOR AIR CARGO OPS
Air cargo operations, which commenced in August 2017, has received a further boost by allowing Transhipment permission from Pune airport. This has opened vast business opportunities for Pune-based exporters who may now clear air shipments bound for USA, Europe, Africa etc from Pune itself. This has also overcome the limitation of export destinations due to limited number of outbound international flights from Pune.
