Dr Deshmukh was serving as Managing Director of state-run Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation and Haffkine Institute before his appointment as Pune District Collector. He also heads the Pune District Disaster Management Authority and is responsible for the Covid-19 situation management in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities. After taking charge, Deshmukh had expressed confidence that in the coming two to three weeks, Pune will flatten the COVID-19 cases curve.
This is Deshmukh's first visit to the district after taking charge of the post of District Collector. He will interact with key officials in these three talukas and resolve issues related to COVID-19 management. If there are any shortcomings they will fix them. These two senior officials are touring the district today after Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar instructed them to hold a meeting in Pune and take steps to overcome the crisis situation.
