Pune: Don't trust strangers coming home for COVID-19 survey, warns Police Commissioner Amitabh Gupta

Pune: Newly appointed Police Commissioner of Pune City, Amitabh Gupta has warned citizens not to trust strangers coming home for COVID-19 survey. He has also appealed Punekars to inform the police control room as soon as they found something suspicious about such strangers. There are a number of complaints of such people who are claiming as government employees on pretext of COVID-19 survey.

The new Police Commissioner is visiting police stations of the city and is also conducting meetings with the senior officers and staff via video conferencing.

Gupta said he is working to boost the morale of the police officials by visiting police stations adding, "COVID-19 infection continues to surge in the city. Meanwhile, we have heard complaints that some people claiming as government employees are visiting the homes in the pretext of COVID-19 survey or testing. Citizens need to be alert. If a person is trying to enter the house, he or she should be asked for the identity card. If there is no identity card and it looks suspicious, the citizens should inform police control room immediately.”

While visiting multiple police stations in the city, he said that We will focus more on ‘basic policing’ as well as plan to tackle serious crimes, especially women and senior citizens will be made.
