Pune: Fifth, eighth-graders await scholarship results

Pune: Six months after the fifth and eighth-grade scholarship examinations were held across the Maharashtra state, students still await their results. While some concerned some parents wait eagerly, many have raised questions to the Maharashtra Examination Council on the scholarship examination results.

The Examination Council conducts pre-upper primary scholarship examinations for fifth graders and pre-secondary scholarship examinations for eighth-graders. This year, more than eight lakh students across the Maharashtra state had registered for the exam. The exam was held on February 16, 2020.

It has been two months since the results of different boards examination were announced. The results were announced by the state board when the number of 10th and 12th class students was higher than those appearing for scholarship exams. After which, the COVID-19 outbreak was declared in the city. However, the examination council has not yet been able to announce the results.

Tukaram Supe, Commissioner of the Maharashtra State Examination Council spoke to Sakal Times, saying, "The outcome could not be worked out during the lockdown period imposed due to coronavirus outbreak. Therefore, the result could not be announced. Now the result is pretty much done, we are in process of it and soon the results will be announced by the month of October in this year. There is nothing to worry and be scared of."
