
Pune: More than 51 Ganesh Mandals in the city have organised the 'Vighnaharta Raktadan Mahayagya' in view of the shortage of blood and plasma in the city. This blood donation camp is organised on August 30.
Through tableaux on various issues, Ganeshotsav Mandals in Pune enlighten the citizens and create awareness on those issues. The preparation and making of these tableaux start six months before the Ganeshotsav. However, due to the COVID-19 outbreak in March month, this year, plans of several Mandals went south. So, these Mandals decided to focus on simple celebrations this year and started efforts in that direction. Small and big Ganesh Mandals in the city came together keeping in view the shortage of blood. More than 51 Ganeshotsav mandals from Peth areas as well as suburbs, have decided to come together to take part in the "Vighnaharta Raktadan Mahayagya". The camp will be held on August 30 at the respective Mandals location.
Through this, the healthcare services of the city will get relief. A total of 51 Ganesh Mandals including Adarsh Mitra Mandal in Dhankawadi, Ashtavinayak Mitra Mandal in Yerawada, Sainath Mandal Trust in Budhwar Peth, Maharashtra Tarun Mandal, Seva Mitra Mandal, Potsulya Maruti Mandal in Ganesh Peth, Bhairavnath Tarun Mandal in Nana Peth are participating in it.
Hanumant Shinde, Executive President of Maharashtra Tarun Mandal in Budhwar Peth said, "There are no tableaux or other activities this year. That is why all the Mandals have decided to come together and organise a blood donation camp. There will no shortage of blood or plasma"
Piyush Shah, President of Sainath Mandal Trust said, "Ganesh Mandals carry out various social and constructive activities throughout the year. This year's situation is different. We are trying to give relief to the healthcare services by donating a large amount of blood while celebrating the festival in a simple manner. 51 Mandals have come together for this."
